About
I’m Kayleigh
(she/her)
mom, business owner, baby fanatic and your biggest cheerleader
Hi, I'm Kayleigh, a Doula and Lactation Consultant based in Ontario. As a mother of three, I have always been interested in birth and postpartum care. My passion for babywearing opened the doors to birthwork and postpartum care – I saw the care gap that existed and knew I wanted to do more. I am dedicated to offering a wholistic approach that is centred around genuine care, evidence-based information and even friendship.
The fourth trimester is such a precious and vulnerable time, I want you to feel empowered as you step into this new phase of your life - whether it's your first baby or your fifth. As a feeding consultant, I believe that supported and informed are best. There are no rules! However you come to feed your baby, I want you to feel firm and supported in that decision.
My Approach
Centered on truly listening to your goals and needs, I believe in empowering you with information to make confident decisions, and fostering connection as the foundation for solving challenges and advocating for what matters most to you and your baby.
my POSTPARTUM story
Born vaginally, my son’s birth was long and strong. After hours of pushing and a forceps delivery, I knew that I should seek some postpartum support. I leaned on friends and family who encouraged me to take care of my body, but my emotions didn’t get the attention they deserved. It took me many months to start feeling like my mind, body and soul were coming together again.
A second vaginal birth for my first daughter who was born in the car! Her birth was fast and furious in the dead of winter. This time I had a toddler to chase and then we went into pandemic lockdowns soon after. My emotions took a large hit during this postpartum period. I would have loved the opportunity to have a postpartum doula, but they were so hard to find. Physically I was much more prepared, but my breastfeeding experience was so different from my first.
The third and final baby was born calmly at home in the wee hours of the morning. This was my most enjoyable postpartum experience because I was ready. I knew what to expect and I knew to expect the unexpected all at once. This time I had a doula, contacted a lactation counsellor, had my bodywork team lined up and ready to go.
All of my babies have breastfed beyond 12 months, but they all looked so different from their preferred holds, biting, tongue and tip ties, and more. I am so glad that I was able to nurse them all.
